חֲמַע
חֲמַעI ch. = h. חָמֵץ to be sour; to be leavened. Targ. O. Ex. 12:34; a. e.; v. חֲמִיעַ.Y.Pes.II, end, 29c בגין דיִחְמַע that it might turn sour (vinegar). Pa. חַמֵּעַ to leaven. Pes.41a חַמּוּעֵי מְחַמֵּעַ (not מחמעא; Rashi: אַחְמוּעֵי מַחְמַע Af.) (the flour) causes leavening.Part. pass. מְחַמַּע, v. infra. Af. אַחְמַע 1) to turn sour, leaven, ferment. Targ. Y.
